Join the Purple Purse Challenge and Win a Coach Purse!!
Domestic violence affects 1 in 4 women in her lifetime – yet it’s a difficult topic to talk about.
To get the conversation started and raise awareness for domestic violence, The Allstate Foundation created the Purple Purse Challenge. The Rutland County Women’s Network & Shelter is one of more than 140 nonprofit organizations across the country participating.
Rutland County residents are encouraged to join the Purple Purse Challenge by donating to the Rutland County Women’s Network & Shelter at PurplePurse.com through Oct. 3. Money donated will benefit life-changing financial empowerment services for survivors. With 98 percent of victims also suffering financial abuse, where an abuser will limit access to money and credit, often keeping her trapped in a dangerous situation, these services are critical to help women break free and stay free.
As part of the Challenge, The Allstate Foundation is releasing engaging, friendly contests among the more than 140 nonprofit organizations. Each week, organizations will have the chance to win additional funding, more than $640,000 in total prize funding will be provided by The Allstate Foundation.
To encourage giving, supporters can make a donation, in any amount, and be entered to win one of two custom Coach purses. The donor who makes the biggest gift will receive a custom purple purse designed by Kerry Washington, Emmy-nominated actress and domestic violence activist. Donations must be made by October 3, 2014 through the Purple Purse website. Winners will be notified the week of October 6.
